Having firmly cemented itself as one of the biggest names in the “prosumer” espresso machine market, Lelit’s impressive line of domestic and commercial coffee machines delivers hard-to-beat value for anyone seeking to make quality espresso. The family-owned Italian brand has become known for packing premium features, usually reserved for top-end machines, into attractively-priced offerings. The Lelit Elizabeth is exactly that: a single-group, dual-boiler espresso machine equipped with a PID and Lelit’s host of advanced electronic controls at a surprisingly modest price point.
About the Lelit Elizabeth Espresso Machine
The Lelit Elizabeth V3 punches above its price tag with commercial-grade internals, including dedicated boilers for steaming milk and brewing coffee. This configuration allows you to brew espresso and steam milk simultaneously. Since brewing and steaming require different temperatures, having a dedicated boiler for each ensures excellent thermal stability and prevents sudden pressure drops. In tandem with the dual boilers, the Elizabeth features a commercial LELIT58 group head that is coupled directly to the boiler, and is made from chrome-plated brass for excellent heat-retention. Additionally, the group head has a 3-way solenoid valve that immediately releases pressure from the portafilter basket once the brew is cut to prevent over-extraction, leaving you with a drier puck for easier cleaning. The OLED screen displays extraction times and temperatures for the brew, hot water, and steam, while also providing a low-water level indicator.
The Elizabeth V3 is compact, warms up in only 15 minutes and is easy-to-use, featuring two shot-profile buttons for repeatable and efficient extractions. It also offers a wide variety of programmable options via the Lelit Control Center (LCC). Other smart features include an automatic “Eco Mode” that engages after 30 minutes of inactivity, saving power while remaining able to warm back up swiftly with just one tap of a button. A removable 2.5L water tank makes refilling the Elizabeth hassle-free. Nonetheless, in case the machine does run out of water mid-brew, it automatically enters “Reserve Mode,” which allows you to finish your shot without interruption.
The Lelit Elizabeth V3 is both a one-touch espresso machine that provides delicious, repeatable shots for the casual consumer and a highly customisable precision tool for the serious home barista. Thanks to its suite of both basic and advanced electronic controls, the Elizabeth provides excellent functionality alongside more than a few premium features.
About the Elizabeth’s shot profiles
The Elizabeth V3’s two shot buttons are fully customisable but come with factory pre-sets. Button 1 delivers a straightforward, 30-second shot without pre-infusion, best-suited to medium-to-dark roasted coffees. Button 2 is the pre-infusion profile, with a default runtime of 35 seconds (which includes a 5-second pre-infusion). When this button is pressed, the Elizabeth uses the steam boiler’s internal pressure to saturate the puck before the pump engages; this helps prevent channelling and is especially useful for dialling in lighter roasts. Pressing both buttons simultaneously engages the automatic purge function to rinse the group head between shots.
For manual control over each profile and the variables that affect extraction, the LCC can be accessed via the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons underneath the display. This electronic “brain” elevates what looks like a traditional Italian espresso maker into a high-tech precision machine. The LCC allows you to programme exactly how long the coffee puck is saturated before full infusion begins. If that is not enough, the steam boiler’s ambient pressure can be harnessed to gently pre-infuse the puck – a luxury for extracting lightly roasted coffee. These settings can also be used to adjust the automatic purge duration, choose your preferred temperature unit, manage the automatic washing cycle, set the standby time, or even disable the steam boiler if desired.
